چکیده

The objective of the current study was to evaluate relationship body condition score (BCS) at 35 d in milk (DIM), production, diseases, and duration dry period with prevalence anovulation 49 DIM then, specifically, each anovular phenotype. We hypothesized that follicular phenotypes, classified based on maximal size follicle, have different etiologies. A total 942 lactating Holstein cows (357 primiparous 585 multiparous) from 1 herd had ovaries evaluated by ultrasonography ± 3 detect absence a corpus luteum (CL), measure diameter largest follicle. Cows were as cyclic if CL observed least 2 examinations, or no either examination. considered divided into groups follicle follows: ranging 8 13 mm, 14 17 ?18 mm. for following diseases: retained placenta, metritis, hyperketonemia, mastitis, lameness, respiratory problem, digestive problem. At DIM, BCS determined, yield individual recorded. 28.5% (268/942) anovular. Anovular longer periods (90 vs. 71 d) smaller than (2.83 2.99). single disease multiple diseases 3-fold increase odds being anovular, respectively. follicles ranged 4 50 phenotype, among cows, mm 29.9 (79/264), 37.5 (99/264), 32.6% (86/264), those (104 74 d), whereas medium intermediate days (99 d). small greater cows. For almost all risk factors, large (?18 mm) similar (8–13 mm). Thus, periods, less factors anovulation. Moreover, distinct phenotypes differed.

Risk factors affecting the culling of Iranian Holstein dairy cows

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the association between risk factors and the risk of culling in Iranian Holstein cows. The data consisted of 329,772 lactation records obtained from the Animal Breeding Center of Iran (2003 - 2012) and logistic regression was applied to investigate the associations between the predictor and response variables. The response variable in this experiment wa...

Getting Anovular Cows Pregnant

I will be using the term anovular in this presentation. This means that a cow is not ovulating. Some people prefer the term anestrus. This means a cow is not showing heat or may not be cycling. We are generally evaluating the ovaries in our studies and so we can accurately tell which cows are ovulating but not showing heat and which cows are not ovulating whether or not they are showing heat. I...

Prevalence and Risk Factors of Mastitis in Lactating Dairy Cows in Southern Ethiopia

Mastitis is the most complex and costly disease of dairy cows occurring throughout the world. In Ethiopia, the disease is not well investigated. A cross-sectional study to elucidate its magnitude, distribution, and associated risk factors in lactating dairy cows in Southern Ethiopia was carried out from February 2001 to March 2002 in a total of 974 milking cows using California Mastitis Test an...

Prevalence, Risk Factors and Consequent Effect of Dystocia in Holstein Dairy Cows in Iran

The objective of this research was to determine the prevalence, risk factors and consequent effect of dystocia on lactation performance in Holstein dairy cows in Iran. The data set consisted of 55,577 calving records on 30,879 Holstein cows in 30 dairy herds for the period March 2000 to April 2009. Factors affecting dystocia were analyzed using multivariable logistic regression models through t...
